Gouache painting I did of my brother for my color theory class... I was going to include all the prelim stuff (thumbnails, value study, color roughs) to show the entire process, but I didn't scan the rest of it yet. Maybe I'll update this sometime in the future. Enjoy
Check out this music video I designed and animated for an artist up here in the Bay, Blake Schaefer. I'd suggest watching it on youtube because blogspot cuts of the right side of the video for some reason...
then check out his website http://www.blakeschaefer.com/ You can download this and a couple other songs from the same album off the site
So I modeled, textured, rigged (with a little help from my roommate, Richie) and animated this extremely short piece of animation for my Maya 1 class my first semester of grad school.
Figured I should post my reel somewhere, and what better place than here... so here goes.
The numbers in the corner are for the shot breakdown. 1: Kenny's World (from the film King of the Underground) 2: Yew Moon 3: Birth of the Universe 4: Hair Day 5: Littlest Knight (in its entirety)
So the original purpose of this blog was to show the progress of my Littlest Knight animation. Then my computer crashed and it got put on hold... Fast forward to two years later and here we are again.
I did this animation for the First Annual Capstone Senior Animation Showcase at Cal State LA. the entire thing was stroyboarded and animated in about a week and a half. I'm going to continue working on this (more color, painted backgrounds, expanded story and animation, etc.) to get it more like the original concept, but as it is I like it. This version doesn't have sound. Jim Ovelmen (a professor of mine) did the sound for it when it played at the show, and I don't have that version.
So I downloaded some photoshop brushes and was looking at a tutorial, and thought I would try something out. Spent a couple hours blending the colors , and I like how it came out (although next time I think I need to go darker with the shadows) On the plus side I adjusted the colors a bit to look better on my laptop screen (and hopefully on every other screen too)
So I drew this on my new Cintiq tablet (well new to me, I bought it used). I just wanted to mess around a bit with color. And in drawing it I realized I do not draw females nearly enough... I just draw dudes all the time. Hopefully that will change... here is to gender equality. and I just realized this looks ten times better on my tablet screen than on my laptop screen... I have to remedy that sometime in the future.
